By Laxminarayan Proddutoor | 11 Jan, 2013

Can anyone relate their experience (s) about point of care testing as a screening measure for syphilis in the context of HIV prevention in resource-poor settings in developing countries?

Brazil has the most impresive program. They use rapid test and reach far away people at the amazonas in canoas. they provide immediate peniciln Treatment to all pregnant positives. The experience was réplicated in HAI, bolivia and Paraguay. See PAHO elimination Initiative.

Nicaragua still does not have a well derfinido flowchart for HIV diagnosis, nontreponemal tests are used as vdr but muestriar mobile populations requires a point of care of dualplataforma treponimicas and nontreponemal
