If you could create a new sustainable health think tank - what key areas would you focus on? What model to choose?

By Trond Undheim | 07 Dec, 2015

A major life science player is considering launching an innovative, path-breaking think tank on social impact and sustainable healthcare. Yegii, the insight network, is looking for people who might be able to suggest the best way forward in terms of structuring the think tank, its mission, organization, budget, expertise, and operations, taking into account the upside/downside and risks with choosing one approach over the other.

Can you think of somebody we should reach out to? Would you be a candidate yourself?

I am a clinician and was formerly with AIIMS.

Currently I have volunteered to work in remote and low resource areas.

I shall be happy to help in any way.

Hi Doctor Sandeep - your voluntary initiative to work in areas with limited
resources is appreciated.
Our Truelab Real Time micro PCR system is also aimed for such remote
settings - bringing the power of
molecular diagnostics using the RTPCR platform to every nook and corner of
our country & the world at large.

Our current portfolio covers for MTB/EPMTB/HBVviral load/
Dengue/Chikungunya/MalariaPf/Pv/ H1N1/ etc. with HIV-EID & viral load / HCV
viral load / and a host of other analytes at various stages of their
respective roll-out.

Do let us know how we can leverage, synergize & ultimately provide what is
needed to those remote settings.

As a basis for a new "think tank," I propose a 'new' semi-autonomous institution, ultimately sanctioned by Congress and each state, with the following vision, mission and values:
.
. V I S I O N --- Stable HEALTH for Each Citizen
. Mission --- To sponsor healthcare reform
. with a continuously renewed understanding
. of our nation's resources, knowledge and human dignity
. "VALUES" --- Altruism, Collaboration, Excellence, Transparency, Trust
.
If you were to visit "nationalhealthusa.net" you would find a means to set up a "think tank" as inferred above with the power to implement meaningful healthcare reform. Among the Pages and Sub-Pages listed on the right hand side of the HOME Page you will find a Sub-Page titled: initial GOVERNANCE. Of all the issues pertaining to healthcare reform, the establishment of a new institution would be most successfully formed by how its initial governance was established. If this catches your attention and willingness to pursue action, go read about NATIONAL HEALTH and leave a note here.....soon!

PS: I am waiting!

Will this think tank be a national (US) or international one?

Structuring it: depends on its scope. What are they looking for? What needs are they trying to address? What are their stakeholders interests?

If the aims are social impact and sustainable healthcare, I would suggest focusing on the primary care approach.
