Webinar--Context Matters: Assessing Health Systems Context for Implementation of Evidence-Based Practices in LMICs

By Deshiree Belis | 03 Jul, 2017

The gap between what is known and what is practiced results in health service users not benefiting from advances in healthcare, and in unnecessary costs. A supportive context is considered a key element for successful implementation of evidence-based practices (EBP). In order to move from ‘what works’ to ‘what works where and why’, there is a need to generate evidence of what facilitates successful implementation, especially in low-resource settings. The webinar will discuss tools aimed at assessing healthcare context, developed for, and validated in LMICs; and systematic assessments conducted of the healthcare delivery context in LMICs to gain insights into factors influencing the application and uptake of EBPs prior to and during implementation of health interventions.

Hosted by the Center for Translation Research and Implementation Science (CTRIS) of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute/NIH, as part of the 2017 NHLBI Global Health Implementation Research Webinar Series.
