Did you miss “Meeting the HIV, MNCH, and Social Support Needs of Mothers and Their Young Children”?

By Daniel C | 15 Dec, 2011

This field-driven learning technical consultation—hosted by the PEPFAR Technical Working Groups (TWGs) for Care and Support, PMTCT, Pediatric Treatment, OVC, and Nutrition—provided U.S. government staff and partners in Africa with a venue for sharing promising practices and approaches to integrating services for mothers, infants, and pre-school aged children.

Presentations focused on a combination of services that meet the continuum of health and social service needs of clients rather than on a single service to address a single need. One document that generated strong interest was the “Integrated Care Pathway from Pregnancy through Early Childhood.” This draft document maps a comprehensive list of services required to meet the HIV, maternal, newborn and child health, and social support needs of mothers and their children from pregnancy through five years of age.
