Global Conference on Primary Health Care: Astana, Kazakhstan in October 2018

By Maggie Sullivan Moderator | 06 Sep, 2018

The Global Conference on Primary Health Care, co-hosted by the World Health Organization, UNICEF and the Government of Kazakhstan, will be held in Astana on October 25-26, 2018. The conference will bring together Member States, international organizations, civil society, academic institutions and other partners to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Declaration of Alma Ata and present a bold vision for PHC in the 21st Century.

To ensure that young people have a meaningful role to play in the conference, youth advocates have been working closely with WHO, UNICEF and UNFPA. This includes organising youth consultations across all regions and feeding into the programme.

As a result, the UN Major Group for Children and Youth has been invited to nominate 10 young people to attend the conference (funding included). Attendees will have an opportunity to participate directly in the proceedings, as both moderators and speakers, and there will be opportunities to deliver key messages on the behalf of the constituency.
