Help inform the future of PubMed

By Andrew Maier | 07 Feb, 2018

Hi there! My name’s Andrew. I’m a designer/researcher at 18F/GSA working with NIH/NCBI’s PubMed team to better understand the experiences of people who search for biomedical literature (to potentially inform a future design engagement).

For the past few days my teammates and I have been brainstorming ways to meet up with folks who might make use of PubMed in their day-to-day work. One idea we've considered is reaching out to folks who are part of GHDOnline communities, specifically: Diagnostics, Nursing & Midwifery, and Health IT.

If anyone reading this is interested in hopping on a call to chat about your work and if/how you make use of PubMed, we'd love to hear from you. We'd prefer a video call if at all possible, and wouldn't need more than 45 minutes. Please email me at before February 16th.

Hi Andrew,

This may already have come up in your meetings, or consideration, yet, if I
were to suggest one thing I'd like to see in Pubmed, it'd be that an export
to Bibtex format of the results. I know and I appreciate that you allow
outputs in various formats (including nbib, which is useful), but what I'd
really appreciate is a plain text format output where I can use it anywhere
(virtually anywhere) as I use plain text format to write reports
(~markdown/latex).
