Lancet Commission on Global Surgery

By Martha Vega | 27 Jul, 2016

On April, 2015 the Lancet Commission on Global Surgery published a milestone report on the current state of surgery worldwide which reported that 5 billion people lack access to surgical care. After discussions among GHDI colleagues, I'd like to bring to your attention this resource where you will find valuable literature on current developments on global surgery research. There is growing interest worldwide to carry out country level research projects in order to meet the 2030 goals for global surgery.

Please visit the Lancet Commission on Global Surgery webpage www.lancetglobalsurgery.org where you will find great resources. On the homepage you will find policy briefs summarizing findings, recommendations and goals. Additionally, under the "More" tab, you will find "Publications" a very useful resource bringing together other global surgery related articles.

Click on the link below to access "Global Surgery 2030: evidence and solutions for achieving health, welfare, and economic development" by John Meara, Andy Leather, Lars Hagander et al. http://www.thelancet.com/pdfs/journals/lancet/PIIS0140-6736(15)60160-X.pdf

Thank you for your attention!

Martha
