Blessings Banda is a Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer for WeCare, a Youth led Organization that supports vulnerable people with access to quality health and education.

Blessings holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health and has worked in program management for more than 7 years. With WeCare, Blessings leads a team of 30 young Malawians in identifying and sending back to school more than 30 orphans and other vulnerable children to school and also supporting adolescents living with HIV in adherence, positive living and also peer to peer engagement through the Peer supporters program. He has supported setting up a diverse team that includes journalists, Nutritionists, IT Specialists, bankers, accountants, lawyer, entrepreneurs and also program managers from across Malawi to be part of this great initiative. WeCare has also constructed a house for an Orphan Headed household in rural Salima District and is committed to supporting more of these kind of vulnerable young people.

Blessings is a Global Health Delivery fellow from Harvard Medical school and Harvard T.H Chan Public Heath School and has worked with different organizations like Partners In Health as Program Manager for HIV and Nutrition, Orphan Widow AIDS Campaign organization as a Projects Officer, Welthungerhilfe as Project Coordinator, Concern Universal and Lilongwe Technical College as Lecturer in development and health programs. Blessings has supported establishment of HIV and Nutrition management systems in the projects he has managed and beyond. Blessings, who is also a Global Health Advisor and trustee for Mwatipasa, has supported establishment of children and adolescents community based advocacy programs that link with HIV care delivery. Blessings is a Public Health consultant in training and research.

Recently, Blessings received an award from Paediatric – Adolescent Treatment Africa (PATA) as a recognition for his engagement of young people in health based programs. He gets his inspiration from Dr Paul Edward Farmer, a co-founder of Partners In Health, who is also his mentor and role model. He believes Dr Paul can heal the whole world with very little resources. Blessings is 31 Years old, married to Regina and they have two children Thando-Kristen and Taro-Kris.
