Brian is the Director of Architecture & Security for Health Shared Services BC (HSSBC,, which is an Agency of the Provincial Health Services Authority of British Columbia (PHSA,

He is also a member on the BC Health Enterprise Architecture Standing Committee and the BC Health Information Standards Standing Committee (with representatives from the BC Ministry of Health and the six Health Authorities of British Columbia), which are committees of the BC Health Standing Committee on IM/IT (ADM for Health, CIOs, and CMIOs).

He is a member of steering committees in healthcare research with organizations provincially, nationally and internationally, including Africa.

Brian is deeply experienced in promotion of International healthcare standards (HL7, ICD9/10, LOINC) and EHR models. He is published internationally in areas of research, development and remote hosting of EHRs, educational curriculum in eHealth, Health Information Systems, and health data interoperability tools.

He is the Senior EHR Systems software developer architect with US CDC/PEPFAR funded initiative in Zambia designing and developing National EHR for Zambia and integration of International healthcare data standards - a partnership between US CDC, JHPIEGO, EGPAF and the Zambian Ministry of Health.

He has a total of over 18 years in Health IT systems and architectures, and more than 24 years experience in IT. With 20 years in IT Service Management, and 10 years managing and maintaining information systems in physician offices, Health Regions in British Columbia, and Primary Care Network on Vancouver Island, Brian has a deep knowledge of IT design, deployment and lifecycle management throughout large enterprises and healthcare technologies.
