On the other hand if there is no malaria the vectors cannot transmit it.

Granulated sugar and honey both certainly work for infected wounds, especially deeper ones where it will stay. The way I always thought it work was because it causes hyperosmolarity in the bacteria thus killing them.

I wonder how much lime juice it would take to boost the immune system. Another possibility is that it interacts with the drug in the intestine or effects the absortion from the intestine. We have been advised not to take grapefruit juice with certain medications because it affects their levels ...
