Bio

I am an internal medicine-trained primary care physician and Director of the Clinical & Scientific Affairs Unit in the Bureau of Chronic Disease Prevention & Tobacco Control in the NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene. I have masters degrees in ethics and health services research, and completed fellowships with the American Medical Association's Institute for Ethics, the NIH/Fogarty International Clinical Research Scholar program (Uganda - TB active case finding), and most recently as a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation/VA Clinical Scholar at the University of Michigan. I've volunteered with the Boston-Liberian organization Tiyatien Health/Last Mile Health (CHW evaluation). As an RWJF/VA Clinical Scholar I researched NCD prevention crossnational learning, diabetes prevention, and CHW evaluation (Michigan CHW Alliance). At NYC DOHMH I provide content expertise and oversee or participate in chronic disease prevention programs and initiatives. My interests include promoting health equity, chronic disease prevention & management, global health, social justice, implementation science and strengthening primary care.
