Technical Specialist - UNSW Sydney
25+ years in International Public Health Research.
Major interest in global health diagnostics.
Point of Care (POC) planning, implementation and training specialist in Low-Middle -Income -Countries (LMIC) and remote parts of Australia using a range of POC tests including rapid tests for HIV, Syphilis, Hep B, plus Xpert CT/NG, TV, MTB/RIF, HIV Qual including early infant diagnosis, HIV VL and HPV assays.
Our group also develops in-house QC for a range of molecular point of care assays - CT/NG, TV, TB and HIV to enhance quality assurance.
We are presently conducting a range of off-label evaluations which will expand the testing capacity of Xpert such as CT/NG anorectal samples for men and women and self-collected vaginal samples for HPV testing at the POC with thermocoagulation as the preferred treatment. MG, LGV and NG AMR are also areas of strong research interest.

I am also evaluating super lightweight (NAAT based) point of care testing systems that are highly portable and do not require mains power (110/240V).
