Update on Social Medicine Course in Haiti

By Cassandra Fox | 06 Feb, 2014

Hi all,

Thanks for your interest in the Social Medicine Course held by Physicians for Haiti! I wanted to share a few updates about the course.

Physicians for Haiti is excited to announce that it is expanding its 2014 Social Medicine Course to include all health profession students. This decision comes out of the need for increased collaboration between healthcare professionals in order to reach the common goal of a high-quality and self-sustaining medical system that incorporates social medicine teachings and prioritizes social justice.
In light of this recent decision, P4H will extend the deadline to apply for the 2014 Social Medicine Course in order to allow all interested students time to apply. P4H will accept applications from all students on a rolling basis until all spots are filled.

The course will run from July 14- August 1 2014 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and will be comprised of a combination of Haitian and international students. The three-week intensive social medicine course will include classroom-based lectures and discussions with renowned public health figures from Haiti and abroad, as well as site visits to hospitals and treatment centers around the country.

You can find more information and apply at http://physiciansforhaiti.org/get-involved/soc-med-course/. Please feel free to contact me with any questions!

Best,
Casey
