I grew up in Switzerland, and graduated with a BSc in Biology and a Masters in Neuroscience from ETH Zurich. I finished my PhD in 2014 in the Department of Health Science and Technology from ETH Zurich. During my PhD Thesis I have worked on public health and nutrition questions investigating micronutrient deficiencies in vulnerable populations in southern Morocco. I joined WHO in 2014 through the Junior Professional Officer program of the UN and have been working in the Department of Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health. I've been working with policy and program implementation for more than a year and am currently focusing on interventions for low birthweight babies and effective interventions to improve child development per se. We're currently working on knowledge synthesis to come up with guidelines on how to improve child development. The work that I've been doing with the research and development team of the department has been focusing on coordination of multi-centered randomized controlled trials in India, Pakistan, Zambia, Bangladesh and Kenya. My daily work consists of providing country support with regard to child nutrition and child development.
I'm looking forward to engage actively in this course and with this enthusiastic group of people.

I graduated from leading Medical school in Russian Federation in 2001. I saw many barriers and failures of the healing process during education as a student and as a patient and decided to start residentship in “Public health and healthcare management”. After graduation as a Public health specialist I started to work as a coordinator of public health programs in non-communicable diseases in Open Health Institute, which was a succedor of Soros’ Open Society Institute in Russia.
Hopefully, I continued to study. Firstly, I received a grant for 3-weeks course on “Research methods in public health” in Netherlands, later – one year intensive International Master of Public Health program in Jerusalem. International education shoed me just another world of “how to” and “what to”. My thesis about difference in health status of migrants from FSU and “native” Israeli population allowed me to test new skills in epidemiology and critical thinking.
After receiving my MPH I returned to Russia and wanted to apply my skills on 100%. I moved to Siberia as a member of NGO “Partners In Health” and was responsible for all monitoring and evaluation activities of Global Fund grant on Tuberculosis as well as for all adherence activities aimed to decrease default rate from medical treatment. I am proud that we really did it – default rate among enrolled patients with resistant TB decreased to 9-10% and was stable for years.
My directors later found opportunity to expand one of the adherence programs (Sputnik) to other five regions of Russia, and I led this project for two years.
Now I am responsible for all adherence activities in two regions, mostly in cities, but we are expanding our program to the rural settings in 2016.
During 2015 I also graduated from “Business development” one-year professional course in one of the leading Russian institutes (Higher School of Economics). Working on my diploma I learned many new trends in healthcare in USA and Great Britain and was very surprised that many commercials try to do things that I already implemented, and there are so many new. Unfortunately, current development of Russian economic situation, and patients and healthcare staff non-acceptance of new trends do not allow to implement into practice all tools to improve the health of each patient or population in general.
